Civil Ulydighed
"Civil Ulydighed" (originally "Civil Disobedience") by Henry David Thoreau is a foundational political essay advocating for individual conscience over unjust laws. Written in 1849, Thoreau argues that citizens should not permit governments to override their morals and have a duty to resist policies they find unethical—particularly slavery and the Mexican-American War.
